Shreya's first Christmas

Yesterday while doing some household shopping, i saw all shops flooded with Christmas eve's decorative and gift items like Santa, snow man, lighting, toys etc etc. It reminded me of our last year's Christmas celebration. Last year was Shreya's first Christmas in US. So I was very keen to do Christmas decoration at home and make it memorable. Everything about this festival was new to her. She took great interest in Christmas tree decoration. She spent entire day decorating the tree with ornaments, balls and other decorative items. We prepared a tree topper Star using balloon weight(holder) and applied golden sparkles to it.
Shreya sang jingle bell and other songs. She received a surprise Christmas gift, a singing Santa toy from her daddy. It was a reward for my 18 month old toddler's hard work and creativity!

My toddler cooked an omelet

Today Shreya prepared an omelet for herself.

What more can you expect from life when your little one becomes truly independent!

Ganesh Puja: Modak Preparation

Yesterday we performed Ganesh Puja at home. Ganesh puja is incomplete without the offering of the Lord’s favorite food - the modaks.
I along with my family prepared modaks for puja. Shreya was watching modak preparation for the first time; she enjoyed all that preparation. She was indulged in playing play-dough with wheat dough and applying her creativity in making laddu, modak, Ganesha idol and many other little things.
I am happy that my little girl is also taking great interest in our pujas and celebrations.

Balloon decoration

This year we celebrated my daughter's second birthday. The party theme was princess so i decided to decorate everything in pink and white. I made balloon butterflies, balloon center points and decorated entire hall with pink and white balloons.
Shreya was very happy when she saw her party hall fully decorated with butterfly balloons. That was a great appreciation of my efforts.

My Fruit Carving Trial

One of my friend introduced me to fruit carving. I liked it very much. I watched some you tube videos to get some guideline. I made an apple duck, few strawberry and carrot roses. But later couldn't get time to spend on it. It's a great fun especially for children; they love to eat those carved fruits.

My Murals

I always dreamed of decorating my daughter's room with a beautiful cartoon theme. While exploring different ways, I came across this beautiful concept 'mural'. The world of murals is amazing, there are plenty of sites where you can find information about murals.

I decided to draw one mural for my daughter myself. Since my baby was very small, i didn't want to paint with colors allowing her to spill all the colors on carpet. Luckily i had construction paper at home. I drew some animal cartoons and cut them neatly and pasted them on the wall. It turned out quite well.
When everything was done, i showed it to her; she was so happy to see all her favorite cartoons in big size on her wall. I can never forget that smile on her face.
We can not express the happiness in words when we prepare something ourselves for our children and when they enjoy your creation! Watching their smile is heavenly!

My Inspiration

I'm dedicating this blog to my lovely daughter 'Shreya'. While babysitting her, I got some time to spend on my hobbies which i was not able to do in my busy work schedule.
I have great interest in all type of arts and crafts. I love to sketch, draw cartoons for my daughter. When I'm drawing, she also tries to draw something with her tiny hands. When I'm cooking she sits on kitchen counter top and keeps asking me about all vegetables and even imitates my cooking syle.
This inspired me to write this blog which will help me keep the note of all these creative things which we are doing together and will be a great memory book later when she will grow up!
